Spirit Guides

The perception of the existence of spirit guides is an age old one. Call them what you will – guardian angels, guardian spirits, guides.

As the name suggests these metaphysical beings are there to simply guide you along life’s path – not to create miracles or to perform feats of mysticism although sometimes the outcome of their intervention can be miraculous in itself! You need not give yourself over to them nor do they ask you to do things or carry out tasks against your will. They vibrate on a higher level and are here to help us through the many lessons which we have to learn on our life’s rich journey.

They help teach us karmic lessons which in turn help us to grow as people and to fulfil our life purpose. With their help and guidance we can rise above the trials of our earthly existence and actually learn to be that little bit more philosophical too!

Interestingly different cultures can and do have different ideas and impressions of their guides but the main purpose remains the same throughout mankind.

Here we will look at a few of the most common ways that our spirit guides show themselves in the western world…

Ancestral / Relative guides – this is self explanatory for the most part. This is the one who helps you in your day to day life. A relative who you may or may not have met in this incarnation. They also guide you from this life on into the next when the time comes.

Teacher guide – here to guide you along a particular path and to teach important life lessons in order for our souls journey to mature. These guides tend to move on when their work is done and are on a higher spiritual plain than ourselves. These guides tend to come to people who have a higher spiritual purpose to fulfil.

Spirit guide - usually has a karmic or past life connection and is there to help with developing talents and lessons which we have in our subconscious from our former incarnations. This guide is on a similar spiritual level to us.

Guardian Angels – these wondrous beings have never been incarnated in human form and are beautiful beings of light which protect us and connect us with a greater power.

Animal guides -like spiritual guardians who protect us to an extent and bring us messages and life direction.

Connecting With Your Guides.

Often our guides come to us in dream form – this is the most common way of meeting them. In these dreams they bring us lessons and also speak directly to us.

 Visualisation and meditation can also help us to connect to them at will. Try not to be disheartened if this doesn’t work to begin with – practice makes perfect!!

 I will feature a Spirit Guide Meditation on this site over the coming months. Also a great way to contact them is to consciously invite them into your dreams, do this as you are falling asleep at night, relax your whole being and invite them to bring you a dream message. Speak out loud to them and you will slowly begin to tangibly feel their presence!
